![]() Two recent road trips from JAX, FL West Palm Beach, FL & JAX, FL Asheville, NC in the hot summer months confirmed this. They produce vertically integrated electric vehicles, batteries, solar, and AI software and hardware solutions. Their mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. I find with the tint, ESPECIALLY the CR90 on the pano & windshield, in the summer months on road trips helps the A/C so it doesn't have to work nearly as hard and thus consuming more energy. is an energy + technology company originally from California and currently headquartered in Austin, Texas. As we know bumping the A/C up by 1F can have an impact on energy consumption. Its a pretty slight blue tint on the plus, but it is there. while I didn't think much of this since you can turn the car's A/C on remotely, what I didn't anticipate was the benefit to road trips. Actually XPel Prime XR Plus has a slight bluish tint to it, whereas Prime XR is true Charcoal. Nikola Tesla (, Jul 10, 1856Jan 7, 1943) was a prolific inventor and visionary pioneer of electrical and mechanical engineering, chemistry and physics. It has a huge impact on the heat in the car. FL law says no darker than 15% on front doors & 20% behind that. The 15% is technically illegal where I live (FL) but had no issue from cops (knocking on wood). couldn't do it the same day as the CR90 since it was still a bit wet). ![]() Video & pix below (the strip on the windshield isn't them as I had that added yesterday. this is 100% clear (you can't tell it's even been applied at all except in the area where the teflon strip & dots are along the edges) & blocks 99.97% UV. The pano sunroofs & windshield also have 3M Crystaline (CR-90) on them. WHAT: I've got 3M FX-HP 15 (15% light allowed thru) on all doors, the rear windshield & in a small strip across the top of the front windshield. In fact, once this new tinting became available, Rivian abandoned its previously-announced plans to use electrochromic glass in the R1T and R1S, claiming that the tinting was more effective than electrochromic glass in reducing heat radiation into the cabin.Seen bunch of questions in different forums about tinting a Model S, & had a few questions when I mentioned deep in another post, so posting my experience here. Tesla, Lucid, and Rivian all use this new tinting. So far no low angle haze or graininess noticed. Similar to Xpel XR Prime Plus, the Spectra Photosync 70 is crystal clear. Just finished getting Spectra Photosync 70 installed on my Midnight Silver Metallic PUP also on the front 3 windows. No rainbow effect with polarized glasses. See r/TeslaLounge for relaxed posting, and user experiences Tesla Inc. Meanwhile, new tinting technology became available that greatly increases infrared heat rejection by glass. The film color is more in the gray tones. The original and largest Tesla community on Reddit An unofficial forum of owners and enthusiasts. (Again, the MB SkyMagic roof is framed on all sides, so there is no termination line in play.) Second, the film does not go completely transparent, so terminating it above the windshield would leave a visible line in the glass. (Boeing had to flatten the window panels to use this film in the Dreamliner, and the MB SkyMagic roof is a relatively small panel with little curvature.) There are only 2 installers in AZ that I know of: Cactus Auto Tint in Scottsdale and Affordable Window Tinting in Tucson. This paired with the amount off glass on a Tesla can make your car feel like an oven. It’s a no brainer when it comes to the excruciating temperatures that surpass 110 degrees in the summer. First, the film has limited flexibility, and the bend as the roof descends to form the windshield might have been too extreme. I never heard of Tesla recommending tinting companies in AZ, but the best tint to get for AZ is PhotoSync and neither of the companies you mentioned are installers for this product. Tesla Model owners, especially in Phoenix, Arizona, have one thing at the top of their list after they buy their Tesla Model: window tint. After tinting all the windows, I turned off mirror autodim and only turn it back on if I'm going for long (1+ hour drives) in the dark My advice is to find the best installer possible. ![]() Perhaps they were expecting developments in the technology before the car entered production, because by the time the car was headed for market the film that was available was not suitable for the purpose.Įlectrochromic film has two characteristics that made it difficult to use in an Air. I went with Spectra Photosync IRD 55 in the rear this time - it is slightly darker but visibility was already bad anyways, I don't think it has impacted anything. In fact, the early prototypes of the Air had a switch to control the darkening mounted near the rearview mirror. Lucid originally intended to use electrochromic glass.
